OZ with a black background. The graphic symbology shows a standard rate turn to the left. The ILS final approach course is represented by the outer marker (large open green circle), the middle marker (small open green circle) and the Airport (solid filled circle). The green line represents the extended centerline of the runway. In this image the aircraft is turning away from the ILS final approach course.
OZ with blue/brown background. The OZ symbology shows straight and level flight. Because the aircraft is on the target heading at the selected altitude the moving star background is suppressed.
This is an artist's mockup of OZ wide field of view synthetic vision. The background image is a 180 degree panoramic image on which the OZ graphic symbology has been superimposed. In addition to the standard OZ symbology this image includes a GPS waypoint and a flight plan path from present position to the waypoint to the ILS FAF to the runway.
The field of view of the SV imagery is 180 degrees horizontally and 70 degrees vertically. The dashed box in the center of the image has a field of view of 40 degrees horizontally by 50 degrees vertically. This extremely wide field of view allows situational awareness of everything ahead of the aircraft without reference to a moving map display.
Wide FoV synthetic vision will be incorporated in the new H/OZ system now under development with funding from NASA.
